For Scuderia Ferrari, the 2023 Formula1 campaign is proving to be extremely disappointing so far, considering the poor outcome of the first three races of the season, in Bahrain, Suadi Arabia and Australia, three races without any podium positions for Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. In fact, the men from the Scuderia are experiencing a wake up call after a winter of work and statements for a world championship which, at least in expectations, was supposed to be the one in which they would fight against Red Bull to bring the title back in Maranello.

On the contrary, the Italian side has collected only a handful of points in this first phase of the world championship, showing disappointing performances in the first two GPs, the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Jeddah race: events in which the SF-23 proved to be slow, suffering from lack of downforce and tyre wear issues, as well as data correlation between simulations and reality. In Australia however, where the situation appeared to be improving, with a car that showed a race a pace comparable to its rivals, better tire management and speed on the straights, the Maranello team still collected zero points due to various issues.

Not only that, given the fact that for Scuderia Ferrari the situation was also made more difficult due to a period of transition as a result of some changes, wanted by team principal Frederic Vasseur but not only, in terms of team organization: the departures of Jonathan Giacobazzi and Gino Rosato, the relocation of Inaki Rueda, the promotion of Ravin Jain as head of strategy and the resignation of David Sanchez.

Changes which, in fact, does not seem to have finished within the Ferrari Racing Division, according to what Italian journalist Leo Turrini reported on his blog: Frederic Vasseur would have been authorized by the Ferrari president John Elkann and by the CEO Benedetto Vigna to start a campaign of “prestigious” signings aimed at finding high-level technicians on the market to fill the gaps that have arisen in recent months, to bring new ideas and methodologies and to strengthen areas of the technical department which are lacking in Maranello.

“You should know that Ferrari will be looking for prestigious technicians and engineers which are available on the market. In fact, Fred Vasseur, the head of the racing department, has received the go-ahead from the company’s top management: he will be able to look abroad for those professionals who will have to integrate and strengthen the Ferrari structure” – Leo Turrini explained.

A key plan and campaign with which Ferrari, after many years, intends to return to the outside world by abandoning the autarchy so dear to former president Sergio Marchionne. An idea which, according to the Italian journalist (always well informed on the events of the Maranello team) as well as having been authorized, would have already been launched by the French team principal himself.
