Yesterday afternoon’s announcement
“We will compete where we have never done before.” With these words, Ferrari yesterday sparked the curiosity of enthusiasts about the new challenge awaiting the Prancing Horse, ready to venture into a new ‘track’: sailing.
According to information gathered by the editorial team of formulapassion.it, a €20 million investment is ready for the construction of a boat, a 100-foot full-foiling yacht, a project that will be led by Giovanni Soldini, the illustrious Italian navigator closely associated with Ferrari President John Elkann.
Giovanni Soldini has just officially ended his collaboration with Maserati after 11 years during which he covered over 200 miles, first with the monohull Maserati VOR70 and then with the trimaran Maserati Multi70, a boat that brought foiling technology to the ocean (a system of underwater appendages that essentially act as underwater wings, allowing the boat to lift from the water’s surface and move ‘flying,’ minimizing resistance and enabling much higher speeds than conventional boats). This afternoon, the official announcement of the new partnership between Giovanni Soldini and Ferrari is expected to bring the Maranello-based company not only to the racetrack but also onto the water.
