The new Ferrari that is coming finally has a name: SF-24. As we anticipated in recent weeks, the Maranello team chooses the acronym that will accompany the latest aero-mechanical engineering creation designed in Maranello for the new Formula 1 championship. There were two hypotheses, and continuity won. All considering that the regulatory framework is the same, with only some small differences that do not change the substance of things.
The Prancing Horse is approaching the presentation of the 2024 F1 car. There is much anticipation to catch a glimpse of the new shapes. We will have to wait for the unveiling on February 13 when, twenty-four hours before the day dedicated to lovers, behind closed doors, the Maranello team will offer a first look at project 676. A completely revised car, 95%, as the protagonists themselves have stated. A work program that has just accelerated in these days to assemble the weapon that aims to challenge the RB20. A very complicated undertaking, considering Red Bull’s technical advantage.
Meanwhile, in terms of information, an agreement with Ceva Logistics has been reached. An extended partnership through a new multi-year agreement with the French company. We are talking about the important issue related to logistics through a strengthening between the parties. A huge field of action that includes a “planetary network” to ensure road, maritime, air, and rail transport, which, moreover, from 2023 foresees a significant reduction in carbon footprint in the many journeys to be put together during the year.
To conclude this introduction before getting to the heart of the article, it is worth commenting briefly on Marc Gené’s recent statements. The Spaniard has been working for the red team for years. As an informed person, although his work at Ferrari is entirely different, the Spaniard claims that the current simulator indications for the SF-24 are better than last year’s. Although we have to wait for the track for confirmation, the feedback from the former Minardi and Williams driver offers a breath of relief.
Ferrari SF-24: Work Program for 2024 Car Updates Set
In Formula 1, nothing happens by chance. According to information provided by the Italian website FUnoanalisitecnica, last week an operational briefing took place with the entire Ferrari Racing Division. An opportunity to discuss the details of the assembly of the 2024 car and, at the same time, define the work program that will start during official tests. A three-day test in Bahrain that will see the new aerodynamic features of the cars on the track.
A fundamental context to thoroughly study the behavior of the Ferrari SF-24. Data collection that will later be very useful in the weeks that will separate the red team from the start of the championship, to create a cross-comparison with the results obtained through powerful computers. Validating project 676 on the track will not be easy. Hurdles are always part of the routine in the top category of motorsport. Therefore, every detail will be evaluated with extreme care.
This is because the layout and temperatures in Sakhir do not offer an absolutistic feedback on the performance of the cars. Not to mention that to understand the real potential of a brand-new F1 car, history teaches us, at least three races or more are needed. A timeframe in which already planned updates are usually decided. However, to avoid past mistakes that have led the red team to unprofitable paths, the operating program will await precise confirmations.
Enrico Cardile, from what has been learned, would prefer to delay the production of updates by a few weeks if the data collected in Bahrain is not as expected. A measure aimed at forging new components only when the certainty of having taken the right path is present. The next two years of the regulations will not see substantial changes, and a hypothetical “technical distraction” towards a wrong path would, in fact, waste more time having to backtrack.
