The group of drivers supporting the main drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz throughout the championship is expanding at the Scuderia Ferrari. Starting from this season, the number of Reserve and Development Drivers is growing.
Reserve Driver. In the role of Reserve Driver, the pilot ready to step in if one of the main drivers is unable to take to the track, Oliver Bearman, a driver from the Ferrari Driver Academy competing in Formula 2 with the Prema team, will join the confirmed Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Shwartzman, who will also compete in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with Ferrari 499 P cars #51 and #83, respectively.
Development Driver. In the role of Development Driver, mostly engaged in the simulator, dedicated to the development of the car both in terms of setups and updates during the season, Arthur Leclerc makes his debut. He joins the confirmed Antonio Fuoco and Davide Rigon. The Monegasque driver will also be on the track in the Italian Gran Turismo Championship with the Ferrari 296 GT3 of Scuderia Baldini 27, just like Antonio and Davide, who will compete in the WEC in the Hypercar class with 499P #50 and in the LMGT3 category with the Ferrari 296 GT3 of the Vista AF Corse team.
Immediately in the car. Oliver and Arthur will have the opportunity to get into the car and start racking up kilometers as Scuderia drivers as early as next week. The team will be involved for three days at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for a testing session in collaboration with Pirelli. On the 29th and 30th, the main drivers, Charles and Carlos, will be available to the sole tire supplier for some tests behind the wheel of the SF23 from the previous year. On the 29th, alongside them on the F1-75 from 2022, will be Arthur Leclerc, making his debut on a Formula 1 car, while on the 31st, driving alone on the same single-seater, will be Oliver Bearman. On Tuesday the 30th, Leclerc and Sainz will take turns between the SF23 and the F1-75.
