The personnel organization at Ferrari has been disrupted by several departures throughout this year. First, it was the turn of Technical Director and Team Principal Mattia Binotto, then aerodynamics chief David Sanchez, who found a new position at McLaren, and now Laurent Mekies, who will become the new head of Alphatauri.
These are some of the most important names that have left Maranello, but there have also been several departures in minor roles. However, Frederic Vasseur does not want to be left empty-handed and has embarked on an intense battle for acquisitions from rival teams. At the moment, there aren’t many details, but the arrival of a senior engineer from Red Bull is expected, who will contribute to the 2026 car, along with other staff.
In a recent interview with Motorsport.it, the Scuderia Ferrari team principal emphasized how the search for employees and engineers never ends, but it depends on the current needs. Furthermore, in every large company, there is always a turnover of people, and it’s not surprising that this also happens at the Italian side:
“On this front, you never completely have everything sorted out. The moment you think you do, I believe you risk being at the beginning of the end. Maybe you strengthen the aerodynamics department, and then there are needs in the engine department. You barely manage to get things settled when reinforcements in the wind tunnel may be required because the scenario has changed. It’s a continuous chase.” – the French manager pointed out.

“The number of people we believe is necessary to strengthen our team is between forty and forty-five, but in a company of 1,000 employees, there is a natural turnover rate of around 6% per year. We’re talking about retirements, personnel who want to change sectors, and many other reasons. So, to maintain a stable workforce, we need to plan for about 90 new hires every year. Half of them are experienced individuals, and the other half are first-time employees or those without significant work experience,” – Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur explained in his interview for the Italian media.
