Ferrari pit crew member Francesco Cigarini, who during the 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix suffered a frightening incident as his left leg buckled after being struck by the left wheel on Kimi Raikkonen’s car, is now back in the Maranello team for the race weekends. The Ferrari mechanic shared some wise words on sportsmanship as he indicated to a moment before the podium celebrations for the 2019 Chinese Grand Prix:
“These are two pictures taken after the Chinese Gp, under the podium during the interviews. Suddenly Lewis Hamilton appeared behind me. That’s what happened: he wanted to back to the interviews square and join his car, climbing the barrier. I said to him that the barriers weren’t connected and was more comfortable to pass without climbing. After this I congratulated to him for his victory. This is sport, not bullshit. Respect for the competitors.” – Francesco Cigarini wrote on Instagram, promoting more respect and better interaction between the sport’s fans on social media.
