According to well-known English Reporter, Formula 1 writer, presenter, and broadcaster, Lawrence Barretto, Scuderia Ferrari will give top priority to renewing Charles Leclerc’s contract before focusing on Carlos Sainz, despite both contracts expiring at the end of the upcoming Formula One season. Persistent rumors surround the Monegasque, suggesting he will sign a five-year deal (2+3) with a bonus if he stays until 2029. For his Maranello teammate, on the other hand, the rumor about a potential pre-contract with Audi has been denied.
Lawrence Barretto is confident: Ferrari will prioritize Charles Leclerc’s renewal before focusing on Carlos Sainz
“Sources say that Ferrari has already initiated talks with Leclerc and intends to secure him with a new multi-year contract,” Lawrence Barretto reports on the Formula 1 website.
According to reports from recent weeks, Charles Leclerc has reached an agreement with the Maranello team for a two-year contract with an option for an additional three years.
The figures are staggering. The Monegasque driver would reportedly earn around a total of 185 million. Additionally, there’s an extra bonus of 50 million in case of his continued presence until the 2029 championship.
“It’s believed that the Italian team also intends to retain Carlos Sainz,” the British reporter adds regarding the contractual situation of the Madrilenian. “Although, it’s likely that they will deal with Charles Leclerc’s contract first and then with that of the Spaniard.”

Rumors in recent days suggested that Carlos had signed a pre-contract with Audi for 2025, mainly to explore alternatives in case things don’t work out with Ferrari.
However, Carlos Sainz’s entourage promptly denied the news, stating that his intention is to continue with the Italian team beyond 2024. The timing of both renewals is now to be understood, with Frederic Vasseur stating that renewals of the drivers are among the Maranello team’s current priorities.
