The atmosphere within Red Bull is not the easiest and risks compromising the integrity of the technical staff of the Milton Keynes team. The Christian Horner scandal doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon, but Max Verstappen has taken on the role of a firefighter to try to limit the damage to the team. However, what is happening at Red Bull could represent a gold mine for Ferrari, with Fred Vasseur once again attempting to convince key Red Bull technicians to leave the Austrian side and join the Maranello team.
If the car on the track, specifically in the hands of Max Verstappen, is still ahead of everyone and doesn’t surprise, what happens in the paddock continues to amaze. The disagreements between the reigning world champion’s father and the team principal seem to interest him little, with the Dutchman being frank in his statements. A sort of cold war within Red Bull that could lead the technicians following Adrian Newey and Pierre Wachè to migrate to other shores, with Ferrari appearing to be on the front line of the attack.
According to reports from the Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are growing rumors of Ferrari being increasingly in contact with some key members of the Red Bull technical staff. Specifically, Fred Vasseur and his staff would be attempting to breach the so-called “magic circle” of technicians collaborating with technical director Pierre Wachè and Adrian Newey.
According to Gazzetta dello sport, the technicians targeted by the assault are three, with a secondary but no less important role. In fact, they would still play a “leadership” role in the technical department of Red Bull, especially in managing the developments to be made to the single-seater.
This level of knowledge could be very tempting for rival teams, as in the “transition” year of 2025, it will be no less important in terms of developments. This is because, as we all know, the cars of the 2026 Formula 1 championship will be completely different, with teams concentrating most of their resources on the new single-seaters. It will be crucial to understand the development of the cars in the second part of the season to lay the foundations for the Ferrari 677.
The uncertainty of gardening remains, which could extend the integration of new technicians into Ferrari by 6 or 12 months. However, the choice to attack from the bottom could prepare fertile ground for the arrival of key engineers from other teams, essential to further strengthen the technical staff of Fred Vasseur and Enrico Cardile. The first, and hopefully not the last, of the big names is Loic Serra, who is expected to arrive in Maranello by summer.
