According to Scuderia Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur, attempting to replicate Red Bull’s recently unveiled floor design in order to narrow the gap to the leading team in the Formula 1 championship is deemed “impossible.”
During a practice session at last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix on the streets of Monte Carlo, Sergio Perez’s crash necessitated the Red Bull RB19 single-seater to be lifted away by circuit marshals, revealing a glimpse of the intricate floor design that has significantly contributed to the dominance of the Milton Keynes-based team in the 2023 Formula 1 championship.
Despite having collected several photographs of the component, just like all the teams did, Frederic Vasseur has clarified that incorporating certain solutions employed by Red Bull would pose considerable challenges. The French manager explained:
“I think that we all have a lot of pictures of the other cars,” Frederic Vasseur replied in a recent interview for the International media during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend in Barcelona – “But then it’s quite difficult or even impossible to try to copy something because it’s more a global concept and you can’t copy just one part of the car.”
On the other hand, Frederic Vasseur’s McLaren counterpart Andrea Stella has shared some words of appreciation for the Austrian side as a result of its incredible innovative technical ideas and pointed out that the design of the bottom clearly shows why Red Bull is by far the rival to beat and why the world champions have secured the race win in all races this season:

“I personally spent some time [looking at the floor], but the 100 aerodynamicists at McLaren will be spending a little bit more time,” Andrea Stella admitted – “It’s very interesting indeed and also shows the complexity and the quality of their development. So to be honest, when I saw it, I said hats off to Red Bull, I can understand why they have this kind of performance.” – concluded the Italian engineer, currently the Team Principal of McLaren F1 Team.
