In recent races, one of the central topics of conversation in the F1 paddock is driver ethics. There is a growing belief in the necessity of introducing a specific code of conduct for drivers. This code would include rules that primarily prohibit the use of foul language. This sentiment has been amplified after Max Verstappen vented with a series of censored words to Gianpiero Lambiase. Peter Windsor believes that Formula 1 should establish a code of conduct concerning language.
“Man, these brakes are s*** compared to yesterday. What the h***!” he exclaimed to poor Gianpiero. Later, he was informed that his pace was decreasing, and he responded, “I know, man, my brakes are just s***.” However, Max Verstappen wasn’t the only driver to upset Peter Windsor by shouting expletives over the radio during the Austin GP. Charles Leclerc expressed frustration multiple times throughout the weekend, as did Yuki Tsunoda with his traditional “what the f*** man.”
Peter Windsor’s Concerns
The former Ferrari manager strongly urges Formula 1 to implement a code of conduct, especially because the sport is trying to attract young fans. “Max, you’re a triple world champion, you’re not allowed to do that. Many little kids watch Formula One these days.”
“I think there should be some kind of code of conduct related to language. Because even little kids nowadays know what’s hidden beneath a series of ‘beeps,’ right?”
