Piero Ferrari is thrilled “like when I was a child” following Ferrari’s victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. On a historic day, coinciding with the sporting event’s centenary edition, the 499P dominated over Toyota, the winner of previous and recent Le Mans competitions.
Behind the wheel of the Hypercar, the three drivers Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi took turns, with the latter leading until the final corner that brought the Ferrari team to an amazing and somewhat unexpected victory. Throughout the 24 hours, everything happened: unexpected events, bad weather, and some obstacles in the pit lane. Despite this, the 499P held strong. Until the end.
Joy and jubilation also came from the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who commented on social media.
Piero Ferrari, son of the legendary Enzo, also wanted to express his thoughts. The entrepreneur said he was thrilled by this victory, which reminded him of an episode from his childhood.
“I am happy like when I was a child,” he confessed in an interview for the Italian newspaper Il Resto del Carlino. “This achievement has brought back the emotions of my childhood.”

“I was four years old when my father’s car won the French marathon for the first time,” Piero Ferrari recalled. “Television didn’t exist in Italy yet, so my mother Lina and I would cling to the radio to receive updates on the race’s progress. It was a constant anxiety.” – admitted Piero Ferrari, the second and only living son of Enzo Ferrari, and a 10.23% owner of the Ferrari automotive company, of which he is the vice chairman.
