Max Verstappen is relentless: at the Zandvoort, the positive streak continues as he equals Sebastian Vettel and solidifies his lead in the championship. Here are the drivers’ and constructors’ standings at the end of the 2023 Dutch GP in F1.
In front of the packed stands of his home fans, Max Verstappen has no intention of disappointing. Sudden rain at the start, downpours, and red flags don’t slow down the unstoppable run of the ’97-born racer from Hasselt. Starting from pole position, the Dutchman led a flawless race, securing another victory, which translates to a +25 point lead in the drivers’ standings.
This time, the world championship leader didn’t secure the additional point for the fastest lap. That honor went to Fernando Alonso, who finished second at the finish line, accumulating a haul of 19 points, further solidifying his third place in the championship.
Zero points for Charles Leclerc and George Russell, both forced to retire. Their respective teammates, Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton, managed to bring home some points. Car #55 finished in fifth place, just ahead of the British Mercedes driver.
By doing so, Carlos Sainz allowed Ferrari to chip away two points from Mercedes in the constructors’ standings. However, the Prancing Horse has lost some ground to a resurgent Aston Martin, now 14 points behind.
