Christian Horner pensa che il motore Ferrari sia ora il V6 di riferimento in F1. Sembra infatti che la power unit Ferrari non abbia solo raggiunto le prestazioni di quella Mercedes.

La vittoria della Ferrari ottenuta lo scorso fine settimana sul tracciato di Silverstone continua a lasciare scorie all’interno della Formula 1. E non poteva essere altrimenti. Smorzate le polemiche sul contatto tra Kimi Raikkonen e Lewis Hamilton, rimane l’impresa della Rossa che è riuscita a espugnare una delle piste in cui le Mercedes sembravano poterla fare da padrone.

Uno dei segreti non certo celati che ha aiutato Vettel a portare a casa la vittoria in Gran Bretagna è il secondo motore della stagione, quello introdotto in Canada solo sulla monoposto di Sebastian Vettel.

Sembra infatti che la power unit Ferrari non abbia solo raggiunto le prestazioni di quella Mercedes – dal 2014 punto di riferimento del Circus iridato – ma l’abbia addirittura superata. Questa tesi è sostenuta in queste ore da Christian Horner, team principal della Red Bull: “Credo che il motore Ferrari sia il riferimento della categoria, ora”, ha dichiarato Horner a Motorsport.com. “Possiamo vedere come Haas e Sauber abbiano fatto ottimi passi avanti nel corso di questa stagione”. Ora la situazione tra i vari motori di F1 racconta di un livellamento nelle prestazioni. Tutto sta nel potenziale di sviluppo delle power unit”.

Christian Horner non ha risparmiato l’ennesima frecciata delle ultime stagioni a Renault. Red Bull e la Casa francese si divideranno al termine della stagione dopo anni di successi, con il team di Horner che abbraccerà una nuova sfida con Honda: “Il fine settimana di Silverstone è stato molto difficile per i motori Renault. Il livello a cui sono non si può nascondere dietro a statistiche. C’è un gap da colmare e speriamo in Honda. Abbiamo molta fiducia riguardo ciò che hanno in cantiere per il futuro”.
