Will Red Bull win them all?
The start of the 2023 Formula One season for Red Bull has left crumbs for the competitors, as the Anglo-Austrian team has won all five races so far, securing an impressive four one-two finishes for Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, with the only missed one-two occurring in Melbourne due to Sergio Perez starting from the pit lane.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and British driver George Russell had been prophetic in the early stages of the championship when they saw the clear potential for Red Bull to win all the races on the 2023 Formula 1 calendar.
A crucial race to prevent Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez from continuing their winning streak will be the next weekend’s race, set on the city streets of Monte Carlo. In qualifying, Red Bull seems not that far ahead in terms of one-lap pace, although they have achieved four poles out of five. Starting from pole position in Monaco means more than half the victory, so Scuderia Ferrari awaits the next round with confidence.
However, Aston Martin should not be overlooked, with Fernando Alonso targeting this Grand Prix for months to achieve his long-awaited 33rd Formula 1 victory.
Charles Leclerc to give it a try
For Charles Leclerc, it will be his home race, and the Monegasque driver knows that especially on Saturday, he will have the opportunity to shine, as he has already done in 2021 and 2022. “In the last two years, we have been on pole position, but on Sundays, I haven’t been able to capitalize on it. However, we are not in the same situation as last year. The car is much less competitive. We’ll see how it goes. I will always give my best,” he explained to the RMC Sport broadcasters on the sidelines of a charity football match which took place on Thursday evening in Monaco.

The Ferrari driver knows he can achieve a good result in the Principality. “Honestly, I believe that Red Bull is much stronger on all circuits. But if we manage to put everything together on a circuit like this, the driver can make a difference. I hope to be in good form this weekend and make a difference on Saturday because on Sunday, there is no doubt that Red Bull will be ahead. But of course, overtaking on this track is not easy, so if we do well on Saturday, we can compete on Sunday,” concluded Charles Leclerc, who has never stepped onto the podium in his home Grand Prix in both Formula 2 and Formula 1.
