Not just Formula 1: how do you see Charles Leclerc at the Eurovision Song Contest? The prestigious international music festival, launched in Lugano in 1956, has announced the return of the Principality of Monaco to the singing competition.
The last time the city-state participated in the event was in 2006. Following poor results, various attempts were made afterward to bring it back into the festival. However, they didn’t get the desired response. Only last year, the Principality launched TV Monaco (the first generalist broadcaster in Monaco since TMC) and joined the European Broadcasting Union. Additionally, the country has allocated €100,000 in the budget that could remain available for 2024.
In response to this news, Charles Leclerc, who is always very active on social networks, jokingly replied to Eurovoix’s announcement, saying, “I’m ready!” complete with a microphone emoji.
The official Eurovision Song Contest account immediately responded, teasing him: “308 points last season… Do you think you can match the result for Monaco?”
The number obviously refers to the final score in the 2022 Drivers’ World Championship. The Monegasque driver had finished the season in second place with a total of 308 points, ahead of Mexican driver Sergio Pérez.
Driver, singer, and composer?
The internet has already proposed its list of songs for Charles Leclerc. Among them, a cover of “Angela,” a cult song by Checco Zalone. Remember that the 1997-born driver is also a composer: this year, he has released several musical tracks on Spotify, all created by him on the piano.
Who knows if Charles Leclerc could win something in a competition outside of Formula 1? In the meantime, we eagerly await the outcome of his candidacy for Eurovision!
