Scuderia Ferrari remains undeterred, with Charles Leclerc highlighting many positive aspects of the SF-24 single-seater in this first half of the 2024 Formula 1 championship. Despite the disappointing results at the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, which tarnished an otherwise thrilling season for the Prancing Horse, the Maranello team remains hopeful. The car has changed significantly from last season, and the benefits of these improvements are evident.
It’s time to roll up their sleeves in Maranello. Just as Monaco didn’t secure the championship, Canada should not dampen their spirits. Though the performances were polar opposites, they do not affect Ferrari’s morale. After spending last season in Red Bull’s shadow, despite Carlos Sainz’s miraculous victory in Singapore at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, 2024 continues to be a year of resurgence.
“As a driver, you always improve from one season to the next,” explained Charles Leclerc in Montreal. “However, when you look at the strides we’ve made, they are more due to the team and the car. As a driver, you can’t make such a big step unless we were driving terribly last year. These improvements are mainly due to the car and the team.” – he pointed out.
There are still areas that need improvement, which Charles Leclerc pointed out in Canada. Nevertheless, from one season to the next, tire wear has significantly improved, the car is more competitive in race pace, and the team, whether it’s the drivers or the engineers in the pits, makes fewer mistakes compared to the past.
“I think over the last seven or eight months, we’ve had a very good approach, and that’s why we are the team that has improved the most during this period,” continued Charles Leclerc. “The biggest difference between last year and this year is that the car is much more drivable, faster, and as a driver, it’s just a continuous improvement.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
