Carlos Sainz thanked Ferrari fans for their support after the appendectomy and admitted that time is tight for Melbourne.
Carlos Sainz rushes towards Melbourne
Can one recover from an appendectomy in two weeks and then return to the car at 300 km/h? Theoretically, for “ordinary mortals,” rest would be essential, but for a Formula 1 driver – fit and healthy – the scenario is different.
Carlos Sainz has certainly circled the Melbourne weekend (March 22-24) on the calendar and is determined to be there at all costs: it won’t be easy, as admitted by the Ferrari driver himself in a thank-you message to the fans shared by the Maranello team on social media.

“Hello everyone, I’m very happy to be back in the paddock today after yesterday’s ‘smooth’ operation in the hospital. Everyone has done an incredible job to get me back in good shape. I feel much better, and now I want to focus on recovery and trying to be ready for the next race. It won’t be easy, time is tight, but I think I can make it.”

“Thanks for the support I’ve received in the last few days. It was amazing to see how much you motivated me in these difficult times. I’m happy to be here to support Charles and Ollie. I’ll try to help a bit on the pit wall with the engineers to see if we can bring home a good race with both. Thanks to everyone, I’ll keep you updated on social media on how my recovery is going. Back soon.” – the Ferrari driver concluded following the 2024 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
