The qualifying session held in Mexico was not an easy one for Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz. After the red flag for Lance Stroll’s accident in the start of Q1, when the Spaniard got back on track he had to travel the whole long straight at a reduced pace because he had no power from his power unit. “I have no power”, the continuous alarm communicated to the Ferrari pit wall by the Spanish driver, who in the end with the help and guidance of the track engineer Riccardo Adami was finally able to restart the power unit after several attempts thus managing to continue the sustain qualifying session at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez track.

Overcoming the issues was not easy for Carlos Sainz amid driving errors and traffic on the track, but in the end the 1994-born driver was the Ferrari car in the qualifying session for the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz in fact snatched the sixth time behind Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen, Perez and Gasly. Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, did not manage to improve in his final Q3 run and will start the race from eighth position. “For the feeling I had, the situation I had in Q1 and Q2 and everything, I must say that being sixth is a good starting position – the analysis of Carlos Sainz once he got out of his SF21 car at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez – certainly as a driver, seeing as I went in the second and third free practice sessions I expected a little more. It was probably the most difficult qualifying session of my life. Everything happened.” – Carlos Sainz concluded.
