In recent hours, there has been much discussion about the two different radio communications on the weather given to Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz during the first stint of the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit.
While Carlos Sainz managed to salvage what he could, despite being 47 seconds behind the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton at the finish line, Charles Leclerc’s race quickly turned into a real nightmare, with the decision taken by the pit wall to fit intermediate tires on lap 20 along with Sergio Perez, Esteban Ocon, and Zhou Guanyu proving to be immediately disastrous.
With the clear drop-off of the medium tires fitted at the start and an anonymous seventh position up to that point, the Maranello team, as in Montreal, tried to do something different in an attempt to get the strategy right and get number 16 back in the race for the podium.
The result, however, was disastrous, with a track that was too dry, destroying the intermediates in a short time, and the rain only hitting the circuit eight laps later.
However, what has been discussed in recent hours are the two different weather-related radio communications given to the two drivers by their respective race engineers, with Sainz remaining on track with the medium tires fitted at the start like the front-runners.
The radio exchange between Bryan Bozzi and Charles Leclerc
Bozzi: The leader is still staying out, and we return to race mode which should last another 3-4 laps. Lap times are still 1:40 for the slicks.

Bozzi: Heavy rain in the pitlane, class 2-3.
Leclerc: How long will it last?
Bozzi: Another 10 minutes, the leader is still staying out.
Leclerc: Be ready.
Bozzi: We expect this to be the heaviest downpour. 10 minutes like this.
Leclerc: Box.
Bozzi: Copy.
Leclerc: Wait a second before boxing because part of the track is still dry.
Leclerc: Box box box.
Bozzi: Copy box. We are pitting for intermediates, the leader is still staying out.
After the pitstop:
Leclerc: Will the rain get heavier?
Bozzi: In 5 minutes, maybe even later.
The radio exchange between Riccardo Adami and Carlos Sainz
Sainz: Sector 3 is wet, right? Turn 15 is the wettest. Let me know if cars are going off track.
Adami: No one has gone off.
Adami: This is the wettest part.
Adami: The rain will last two or three laps like this, sector 2.
Sainz: Copy, keep me updated.
Adami: You are doing a good job: lap time 1.35.3.
Adami: Green in sector 3. Green in sector 3 for two laps like this, then it will be cyan all over the track. Be careful in sector 1.
Adami: DRS disabled.
Adami: One or two laps like this and then less rain, be careful in sector 3.
Adami: For info, Charles is coming into the pits. We can monitor him.
Adami: It will be the next lap, the intensity is decreasing.
Sainz: I am happy with the slicks, you are doing a good job, keep it up.
