“We have achieved the goal of returning to being competitive, winning the world championship, however, is another level” – In this way Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto wanted to take some pressure off the Maranello team in a recent interview for BBC. The Italian side has started the 2022 Formula One season really strong, but at Imola Red Bull proved to be the fastest car until the Spanish Grand Prix, where the updates introduced by Ferrari made the F1-75 once again slightly faster than its title rival.
The performances of the F1-75 car have once again become the reference of the entire starting grid not only in Qualifying, but also in race pace, performances that however have not earned other victories besides those achieved by Charles Leclerc in Bahrain and Australia, mainly due to a technical problem in Barcelona and some strategic errors in Monaco.
“Ferrari certainly has the best car, let’s see if they also have the best team,” said Fernando Alonso in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport which was published today. The Alpine driver believes that both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have room for improvement: “This year the car is at the top, Charles has adapted better than Carlos, but he is still not at 100%. He has won some Grand Prix, but he is not world champion, at least not yet”.
According to the two-time Formula 1 world champion with Renault in the 2005-2006 two-year period, racing for Ferrari should be a must for all drivers: “With Ferrari I have my best memories in Formula 1, at Maranello I shared common values such as passion for sport. Racing with Ferrari should be an absolute must for everyone” – the Spanish driver concluded, as reported by the Italian media.
