Scuderia Ferrari will pay tribute to the Italian Air Force for its centenary during the Italian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the Monza circuit. The Maranello-based team will use two stickers on their SF-23 race cars, one featuring the 100-year logo, and the other displaying a symbolic phrase, “Soaring towards the future.”
On the occasion of the Italian Grand Prix, 9 MB-339PAN aircraft will fly over the starting grid after the national anthem. The pilots will create the classic and iconic Tricolor, aiming to establish a record for the world’s longest Tricolor flag, as part of the anniversary celebrations. The flyover at the Autodromo has been a tradition since 2015, and it never fails to excite the numerous enthusiasts.
This year holds even more significance due to the Centenary of the establishment of the Italian Air Force as an independent Armed Force, which took place in 1923.
“This particular flyover,” explains the Italian Air Force, “holds even greater significance because it takes place in the year of the Centenary of the establishment of the Italian Air Force as an independent Armed Force in 1923. One hundred years of history: the same as the ‘Temple of Speed,’ which celebrated its centenary just last year. History, speed, innovation, technology, engines, and team spirit have always united the flying units of the Italian Air Force, the national Monza racetrack, and the Formula 1 teams. Since the establishment of the Armed Force in 1923, the men and women in blue have been serving the country daily with an emphasis on innovation and modernity.”
