There is great anticipation for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix. Due to Red Bull’s clear dominance and Max Verstappen’s performance, with the championship seemingly decided since May, many teams are already evaluating whether to continue developing the 2023 cars or begin a phase of deep experimentation for the 2024 Formula 1 season.
The limited pre-season testing hours do not allow for the validation of all the ideas and solutions that the engineers need to try on the track after analyzing data from the winter simulations and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). It is normal, therefore, that in many of the upcoming events on the calendar, excluding those with sprint format, Fridays will be dedicated to experimentation and data collection.
The Gilles Villeneuve circuit has unique characteristics, being “front limited” with few fast corners and not overly long straights. It is the perfect ground to test solutions related to traction, braking stability, and the balance between high downforce and suspension capabilities to avoid bouncing and bottoming. These have always been issues that afflict Scuderia Ferrari and its SF-23 single-seater, as they are confined to a very narrow setup and compromise operating window.
In Canada, a new geometry for the rear suspensions is expected for the Maranello team and rivals Mercedes, a significant aerodynamic update for Aston Martin, and a package of important upgrades for Williams.

Thanks to the punctual updates from Spanish reporter Albert Fabrega, we can now show you the first images from the pitlane of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Canada. Looking at the front wings of Aston Martin and Alpine, it is clear that they have the intention to test very different solutions, with probable comparative tests.

Scuderia Ferrari will also likely try out significantly different front wing solutions, but for now, they have chosen not to reveal the alternative profile they will use in the Friday sessions ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
