Qualifying for the 2008 Monaco Grand prix took place on 24th May. Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa were driving the F2008 and after a difficult start to the season, the results were beginning to come.
The street circuit in the Principality is not one of Felipe’s favourites, but the Brazilian excelled himself in one of the most closely contested qualifying sessions ever in the Monaco race. The Paulista set a time of 1.15.787 beating team-mate Raikkonen by 25 thousandths and the Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren by 52.
Unfortunately the all-Ferrari front row came to nothing in the rain the following day when Hamilton shone. The Englishman won while Felipe Massa had to settle for third behind Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber. In the points table, Hamilton overhauled both Ferrari men and to take the lead.
