Scuderia Ferrari have announced when their 2018 car will be unveiled to the public, with fans to get their first look at the Maranello team’s new machine on February 22. The announcement was made by Italian-Canadian executive and Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne, who confirmed that the simple presentation will take place via web. Sergio Marchionne, Ferrari Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene and Ferrari’s chief technical officer Mattia Binotto made the announcement during the annual meeting with the press in order to exchange the traditional Christmas greetings.
However, unlike last year, the new car will not take to the track in Fiorano the same day but the following Sunday in Barcelona for the “Filming day”, the private test for use by the sponsors and allowed by the FIA regulation.
FIA announced the full Formula One race calendar for the 2018 season. The schedule has 21 races (up from 20), featuring the return of both the German and French Grands Prix, and the loss of the Malaysian Grand Prix. Besides the additions of Hockenheim and Paul Ricard Circuit to the schedule, some races have moved around to accommodate an additional race. The Russian Grand Prix moves from April to September, while the Azerbaijani Grand Prix jumps from June back to April.
Next season will also feature a triple-header, with three race weekends in a row from June 24th to July 8th, consisting of the French, Austrian, and British Grands Prix.
