The new year has marked the start of the countdown until the official launch of the Formula 1 cars for the 2017 season, which will most definitely have a new design regarding the technical aspects, with a wider and more aggressive look, as they will also be much faster than the cars from the previous years. As the Italian press suggests, some important aesthetical changes could take place with the new Scuderia Ferrari 2017 car.
The daily newspaper “La Stampa” reports that the technical staff at Maranello intends to completely remove the white livery band that was used last year and return to an all-red concept, as the white has been often associated with bad periods in Ferrari history. After a Championship during which the Italian team did not manage to a score a single win and was outdeveloped by both Mercedes and Red Bull, Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne, as well as team principal Maurizio Arrivabene hope that the new car will mark a new beginning for the Scuderia, with a more competitive season after the negative results from 2016.
Scuderia Ferrari has already confirmed that February 24 will be the date for the presentation of the new Formula One car, which will run at the Fiorano Circuit, a private racetrack owned by Ferrari for development and testing purposes, but in this case only for a filming day.
Ferrari has chosen this date (February 24) to be able to hold back on unleashing its engine (with only four such power units available during the entire 2017 season) and its aerodynamic developments until the very last possible minute, in order not to provide useful information for the other teams.
Whatever the look for the Scuderia Ferrari 2017 car, the most important part is for the Maranello team to produce a more competitive and balanced car and provide Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen with the necessary means in order for them to challenge Mercedes and Red Bull for wins in the new season, to end a victory drought that unfortunately dates back to the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix.
