The Styrian Grand Prix is the newest race to emerge in Formula One as the FIA stages back-to-back battles in Austria to kick off the 2020 season. Formula One enters another new chapter in its long and winding history with the debut staging of the Styrian Grand Prix this weekend – yet fans are likely to note plenty of similarities to week one of the 2020 season.
The shortening of this year’s campaign due to the coronavirus outbreak has forced organisers to rethink how the F1 calendar will play out. It was decided that the first race would take place at Austria’s Red Bull Ring on Sunday 5 July. A week later and the same track will host the second race of the campaign too.
It means spectators watching at home are likely to become very familiar with the track layout, the DRS zones, the tricky corners and the straights.
The two races will not both be called the Austrian Grand Prix. Instead, the week two run is to be known as the Styrian Grand Prix.
Join us for the latest updates and results from the Red Bull Ring, as the second practice session for the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix is about to get underway, with Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc at the wheel of the SF1000, ready to continue evaluating the ideal set-up ahead of the qualifying session and the race on Sunday.
