During an interview with Sky Germany in Suzuka, Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto talked about the Sebastian Vettel/Charles Leclerc situation, pinpointing the reciprocal benefits for the two drivers: “The situation between the two is good. I think it’s different from what you read in the newspapers and on the internet.” – the Ferrari boss said, as reported earlier today by sport.sky.de
Mattia Binotto added: “For Charles, Seb is a great measurement. He benefits from his experience, how the preparations are looking for the weekend, how quali is going, in terms of setup. So far that was very helpful for Charles. It’s great for Charles’s learning process. He has a fantastic teammate beside him with a lot experience. On the other hand, Charles is also a great measurement for Seb because Charles is very fast. It’s up to Seb himself and his car but he has to compete against Charles and that is very useful for him at that stage.” – Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto concluded.
In a previous interview, the Ferrari boss said he does not believe there is a risk the situation could escalate out of control: “No I don’t think there is the risk of losing control because there is a difference between not managing drivers and at least having the attempt to manage them. There is always a solution which is not manage them – maybe someone may do. So I think our intention is to try to manage the situation to the benefit of the team and secondly to the benefit, overall, as well, of the drivers. We may do a few things that can be addressed or improved and I think that is what we are building and trying to do for the future.”
