In a recent interview for motorsport-magazin.com, four-time Formula One world champion and former Scuderia Ferrari driver Alain Prost was asked about Sebastian Vettel and his difficult period with Ferrari, which resulted in the German driver’s disappointing outcome at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza last weekend.
Formula 1 legend Alain Prost defends Sebastian Vettel, adding that any driver can go through difficult at some point in his career: “If you look at the big drivers, the big champions, they all made mistakes. We’re all just people. I’m sure Seb will come back. But it’s still a pity, because I don’t want to see him like this. He deserves better.” – the retired French racing driver explained.
Alain Prost also explains that Ferrari fans, media, experts and most importantly the Maranello team should support him: “Sometimes you have a phase where it just doesn’t work. I don’t want to put any more pressure on Sebastian, but everyone has to help him, inside the team and outside. Because it’s very hard.” – he added, as reported by the motor-racing website motorsport-magazin.com.
At the same time, letting Sebastian Vettel leave the Maranello team or for the German driver to decide to retire would be the worst possible solution for both Ferrari and him, according to four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost: “I don’t know what Seb is up to, but I think he should stay and Ferrari should be happy about it. They have two fantastic drivers. He has a lot of experience, even if he made a few mistakes.” – former Scuderia Ferrari driver Alain Prost concluded.
