The 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season is all set and ready to go with the Australian GP in Melbourne on 14-17 March. After the long off-season, fans have had their appetites whetted by the two pre-season tests at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain.
For Kimi Raikkonen it will the first of his two-year contract with Alfa Romeo Racing, the Hinwil-based team. But how long does the Finnish driver intend to stay in Formula 1? Kimi laughs and says: “I don’t know but let’s say it this way: I’m sure closer to the end than to the beginning. But I don’t know yet when the end will come. I’m away for a week but then again for a whole week at home. That’s normal for us and I won’t race forever. So in the future I will have more time for my family.” – the 2007 Formula One world champion explains, according to Speedweek.com.
Formula One may be Kimi Raikkonen’s first priority, but the Iceman still manages to run his own motocross team with great success and his passion for motocross is well-known: “I was on a motocross bike already very early on.” – Kimi adds – “That was before I even drove a kart. I’ve always been a big fan and always wanted to compete in motocross races. I then chose a different path and that wasn’t the stupidest decision. But I own a World Championship team for several years, the Husqvarna factory team, which also competes once a year in Switzerland. That’s pretty cool. I still love motocross, even though unfortunately there isn’t much time to drive.”
Will Robin one day be a Formula 1 or motocross driver? – “That’s not for me to choose. I just hope he finds something that really fascinates him. It doesn’t matter whether it’s hockey, football or anything else. You know, children are initially interested in everything.” – Alfa Romeo Racing driver Kimi Raikkonen concluded.
