Italian blogger Leo Turrini, who is famously very close to proceedings at Scuderia Ferrari, has recently interviewed former Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo. In his latest blog entry, Leo Turrini recalls the discussion:
How would you rate a Formula 1 World Championship with eight or ten races at most?
Luca di Montezemolo: “It would still express a worthy champion and would be a season destined to go down in history, precisely because of its uniqueness. I hope it will be possible to restart the engines, but the same speech I made on our Serie A football season is true for Formula 1 as well: only with guaranteed safety and behind closed doors, because this is how the spectacle of sport will take place for a while, I fear”.
A tip for your successors in Maranello?
Luca di Montezemolo: “Do I have to?”
Please make an effort, given the many titles you won with Ferrari. Would you extend Sebastian Vettel’s contract?
Luca di Montezemolo: “Yes, because Seb is still very fast. He has a lot of experience and I don’t think he is in a crisis of motivation. In addition to this, his presence would also be useful to Charles Leclerc, who is extremely talented but must confirm his position after a wonderful season and therefore will have a lot more pressure on him.”
