The decision regarding the introduction of Scuderia Ferrari’s third evolution of the power unit is progressing in a positive way and according to motorsport.com, the Maranello team will use it in Belgium, on the Italian side’s return from holidays and the new power unit will therefore make its debut on track in the first free practice session for the Belgian GP.
The Maranello team intends to play to its cards in the double trip that will follow the summer break, Spa and Monza, where the red cars should make the most of their technical features devoted to the great aerodynamic efficiency that allows high top speeds on long straights, perfect for the circuit located in the woods of the Ardennes.
Ferrari is therefore ready to roll out its new engine, the result of a long work carried out by technicians led by Corrado Iotti and by the new organization that was given to the department by Enrico Gualtieri, the engineer who is reviewing the processes because certain errors, such as those in qualifying at Hockenheim, can no longer be repeated.
According to rumours, the third engine granted in the 2019 season by the FIA for the 21 races without penalty should guarantee an important leap in performance that will not only be combined with a specific fuel which has been developed by Shell.
The power unit of the Prancing Horse should bring to the track about 20 horsepower more than the previous one as a result of a greater push combustion management being able to better exploit the pistons in bi-metallic material that allow the possibility to increase the pressure in the chamber.
