Italian blogger Leo Turrini, who is famously very close to proceedings at Scuderia Ferrari answered some fan questions on his blog in his newest blog entry, as he discussed several aspects surrounding the Maranello team. Among others Leo Turrini confirmed that Simone Resta is also involved in the development of the 2020 Ferrari car. Former Ferrari chief designer Simone Resta has rejoined the Maranello team team last season from Alfa Romeo.
Here are some of the most important comments from well-known Scuderia Ferrari insider Leo Turrini:
“Obviously everyone is betting, including Ferrari, on the Vettel-Leclerc explosion. I prefer to hope in the awareness of both and I naturally hope that the car is extremely competitive.”
“There are many things from the past that I would like to see back in today’s F1. I choose one: tests during the season. It was the beauty of racing, when a car, trying and trying again, managed to go up the slope..”
“On what happened in Canada I immediately said that it was a wrong decision and in fact after that moment the FIA corrected the sanctioning criteria (see Austria). I don’t want to speculate on what decision would have been taken if the roles were reversed in Montreal. It was a mistake and that’s it.”
“You ask me when Ferrari will be aerodynamically more efficient than Mercedes (and Red Bull). I answer that, as of today, we are not there yet.”
“I have no direct contact and discussions with Vettel (and not even with other contemporary drivers, with a couple of exceptions). I am now a mature country gentleman! But humanly I have always liked Seb and often find the criticism that is manifested towards him excessive.”
“In fact, the last races of 2019 have not been exciting for Ferrari’s prospects. The optimist may think that after Suzuka in Maranello they decided to hide a bit. The pessimist fears the worst. I am cautious.”
“I continue to consider Ferrari mechanics to be very good. But it is true that in 2019 some of Ferrari’s pit stops were not perfect. I think it may depend on an organizational aspect that can be improved. But the professionalism and passion of the boys are not in question.”
“Simone Resta is also involved in the development of the 2020 Ferrari car. And thank God for that.”
