When the FIA converged to set out the 2020 F1 season in response to the coronavirus outbreak it was decided that eight races would initially be scheduled. Those eight races included double headers in both Austria and at Silverstone.
It means the FIA had to come up with a new name for the second Austrian Grand Prix of the season, so as not to cause confusion. So, the Styrian Grand Prix was born. Technically this is a new Grand Prix and is officially called the Formula One Pirelli Großer Preis der Steiermark 2020. However, many fans are likely to call it the Second Austrian Grand Prix or the Austrian Grand Prix II.
Follow us later in the afternoon for the latest updates and results from the Red Bull Ring, as the qualifying session for the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix is about to get underway, with Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc at the wheel of the SF1000.
