Charles Leclerc interviw for motorsport-magazin.com:
On what it takes to be the best driver
“I honestly believe that everyone can be the best driver in the field. The one who has understood the best how to maximize his potential is the best for me. Sure, some drivers have more talent, but in the end, someone who works hard can get there too. I think it’s more about understanding how to reach your own limits. Therefore ranking drivers is very difficult. I think you can do it for a season, but to rank a driver in their entirety is very difficult. Every driver can be as good as anyone else when he finds his limit. It just counts how long you can drive at this level. That’s why I don‘t really focus on the others. I just concentrate on myself and try to get the maximum potential out of myself.”
How much of your potential have you already shown?
“There is definitely much more to come. There is always more potential that you can use. But for the first season I’m pretty happy, except for the first three races.”
What was the key moment that you remember from this season
“Probably the phone call of Maurizio, that I will drive for Ferrari next year. That is something that I will always remember!”
And what about a special moment on track?
“Hard to say. But in any case, the battles with Fernando Alonso taught me a lot about racing.”
On how he approaches media events:
“I’m saying what I think. It sometimes seems a bit direct to the media, but that’s my personality. I‘m rather like that (being honest), than say something to the media that I don‘t actually think/believe!”
