Charles Leclerc about fighting with Lewis Hamilton / Sebastian Vettel last year: “You feel proud the first time you are fighting with them because these are drivers that I have been looking in the past when I was in karting or started my career, hoping to join them one day”
About being viewed of being part of the new golden era of Formula One alongside Verstappen and Hamilton: “It feels good but I don’t think it is just us three. Overall it’s going to be a very exciting time for Formula One. There are a lot of youngsters coming, that I know extremely well. I know how strong they all are. I believe it’s going to be very competitive in the next couple of years, which is great for F1 in general. It will be very tough and exciting.”
Charles Leclerc about teammate Sebastian Vettel: “We both want to win. We are extremely competitive. Sometimes on track we might have some frictions but at the end we are mature enough to know that what happen on track is on track. Off track we are different persons. I think the most important thing is that we work well together, especially off track to try to develop the car in the best way possible. And of course not exceed the limits whenever we are on track like we have seen in Brazil. It was a good lesson for both of us and it won’t happen again. It pushes both of us forward, to try the limits. To be stronger. Whenever he [Seb] is infront of me I don’t like it and I work even harder and whenever it’s the opposite it’s the same for him!”
About what we can expect from Ferrari & him this year. Charles Leclerc: “I hope or at least I am working extremely hard to do less mistakes that I have done in 2019. As a team I think we need to focus on that aswell.”
About Ferrari’s 2020 F1 car: “In terms of performance it’s always very very difficult to know before the first race.
I was going to say winter testing but actually in 2019 winter testing went a lot better than the first race, so we wait for the first race. I think we have been working well. To see the performance we will see a bit later on but I feel definitely more ready than at the beginning of 2019 and I hope I will be able to prove it on track!”
