Located in Sakhir, 30km south-west of Manama, the beautifully designed Bahrain International Circuit opened in 2004. A trailblazing circuit which opened doors for motor sport in the Middle East. Deigned by Herman Tilke, it is arguably one of the most advance circuits in the world.
The track itself consists of 15 turns of different widths to provide varied racing lines. The circuit was designed for the benefit of the spectator and boasts 45,000 grandstand seats with high quality views. The 2018 race was full of action and saw a Sebastian Vettel masterclass, fending off Valtteri Bottas. Lewis Hamilton had to fight his way from 9th following a grid penalty, while Pierre Gasly won plaudits for his 4th place finish.
Interestingly, the fastest lap time for the Bahrain circuit is held by Michael Schumacher with 1:30.252 in the 2004 season, however, when the track was re-profiled his time was archived making Pedro de la Rossa’s 2005 lap of 1:31.447 the record.
Join us for the latest updates and results from the Bahrain International Circuit, as the second practice session for the 2019 Bahrain Grand Prix is about to get underway, with Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc at the wheel of the SF90, ready to continue evaluating the ideal set-up ahead of the qualifying session and the race on Sunday.
