The Austrian Grand Prix is just around the corner. The F1 Austria racing event has a long history, having been hosted in two different places in southeastern Austria: first, it was at the Zeltweg Airfield where it was hosted for two years before a permanent racetrack (the Osterreichring) was put up in 1969 and it hosted the prestigious championship the following year.
The 2019 Austrian Grand Prix will take place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. Generally, cars run a medium to high downforce here, while the engines come in for a hard time, as the Red Bull Ring is 677 metres above sea level, so the air is rarified.
This also affects brake cooling: there are four heavy braking points and not much distance between corners in which to cool the braking system. Therefore keeping the discs and calipers at the correct temperature is vital to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
2019 Austrian Grand Prix weather forecast (Weather Spielberg, Austria):
From the Formula 1 teams’ point of view, different weather conditions can result in very different races, and Formula 1 teams adapt their strategy accordingly, for example using different tyres in wet conditions, and taking account of cross winds which can cause stability problems at high speeds. It is always well worth checking the weather before any grand prix as it can often throw a curve ball into the mix, although this time Spielberg will most likely be a straightforward weekend. Conditions appear excellent ahead of the 2019 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix weekend. The temperature for race day is expected to be around 22-23 degrees, while according to the latest forecast, there is no chance of rain for Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The free practice sessions and qualifying day will be warm and will receive abundant sunshine, while on Sunday plenty of sunshine is also expected, with no chance of precipitation for the race.
